What is Concept2 Model D?
The Concept2 Model D was the flagship indoor rower from Concept2 for decades before being rebranded as the RowErg in 2021. The Model D established itself as the global standard for rowing ergometers, used in every major rowing nation and at every level from recreational to Olympic. It features an air-resistance flywheel, nickel-plated chain drive, and the PM5 performance monitor. The Model D is identical in function to the current RowErg — the name change was purely a branding decision. Millions of Model D units remain in active use at rowing clubs, gyms, and homes worldwide. The machine is known for its durability, with many units lasting 15+ years with minimal maintenance.
How Watta Uses Concept2 Model D
Watta reads both Model D (PM3/PM4/PM5) and current RowErg (PM5) screen formats. The OCR engine is trained on all Concept2 display variations to ensure accurate data extraction regardless of monitor generation.
